What can nonprofits do? 

A 501c3 charitable organization is tax exempt, and donations to them are tax-deductible. But there are rules!
So many nonprofits think that the IRS rules forbid them from political advocacy. What types of advocacy can nonprofits engage in? “Substantial” lobbying is allowed: drafting legislation or trying to persuade a legislator to vote one way or another. But nonprofits have to be careful – take a listen to this important podcast produced by Ecologistics and underwritten by Biodiversity First!
